According to the Commission’s evaluation process and with the help of the specific guide produced for these establishments, the Commission evaluated the implementation of the general education component in all establishments with programs leading to a diploma of college studies (DCS). This component of 26 2/3 learning units was as follows at the time of the evaluation: language and literature, 4 courses (9 1/3 units); second language, 2 courses (4 units); philosophy or humanities, 3 courses (6 1/3 units); physical education, 3 courses (3 units); complementary 2 courses (4 units).
Eighty-eight institutions were involved in this evaluation. The exercise ran from fall 1996 to fall 2000. The Commission issued its respective evaluation reports to the institutions involved, and published a summary report.
